Statement on Decision to Vote on Mask Mandate

We are disappointed by the Salt Lake County Council’s motion to hold a special meeting to vote on overturning Salt Lake County’s 30-day health order. This irresponsible decision comes at a time when case numbers are at record highs, the health dept is at maximum testing capacity, and schools are on the verge of shutting down because of teacher shortages. Hospitals are overflowing, understaffed, and delaying non-emergency care.

The majority of Utahns know our state is in trouble and want common sense solutions, not divisive drama. Our kids, teachers, and schools, our healthcare workers & hospitals, our communities depend on the council doing what's right. Our vulnerable populations too. We hope the council members vote to uphold the order.
