Utah AG Office Issues Memo to Schools Regarding Books in School Libraries

We applaud the Utah Attorney General’s Office for its recent Memorandum to LEAs regarding books in school libraries, which brings good logic and a rational basis to a contentious issue while emphasizing the rights of students in schools. Fringe groups whose extremist views don’t represent the majority of Utahns or the best interest of our kids have been driving the agenda on too many issues related to the mental, emotional, and physical health and safety of our children. It’s time for a concerted effort to push back. We are grateful that the AG’s Office did so on this important issue of First Amendment rights of children in schools and hope to see state leaders push back more often against hateful groups that use our kids as political footballs to advance their fringe partisan agendas.
